Please note:
the Slingerland name is © by The Gibson Company.
They produce only drums under the Slingerland name. These pages are my own
personal effort and are in no way connected with The Gibson Company!
These pages are devoted to Slingerland and May Bell guitars, mandolins, and other
non-banjo
stringed intruments made by the Slingerland Musical Instrument Mfg. Company of Chicago, IL during the
1920's-1940's.
In these pages you'll find as much history of the Slingerland Musical Instrument Mfg. Company relating to
the production of non-banjo instruments or drums as I can find. I'm actively seeking out information all
the time -- if you have any information about the company, any pictures, any stories from relatives who worked
there, etc., please forward them to me so that I can post them. If you are unable to scan pictures, I am
willing to travel to obtain pictures, and to also do interviews, and view/photograph/purchase instruments.
You'll also find pictures of my collection as well as pictures of other people's instruments.
If you have an instrument you'd like pictured on this site, send the picture as a graphic attachment to me at the
e-Mail address listed below. I can accept all graphic formats and large attachments. Also, include as much
info about the instrument as you can: body size, scale length, construction materials, history, etc.
Likewise, if you have a Slingerland instrument that you wish to list for sale, send the pic and info to me and
I'll post it. The same for items wanted (although you probably won't have a picture yet!).
Do you know someone that has a Slingerland, May Bell, or College Pal guitar? Mandolin? Ukelele?
Electric guitar? Point them to this site! My hope is to find enough data to publish a book on the
stringed instrument portion of the Slingerland company.
